Here's my plans for today. Since I am now going DCC, it is time to re-wire the layout. I'm doing it in a way that I can keep multi-block control and also be able to switch to regular DC if so desired. My plan is this: There are 16 blocks, each block will be wired to a DPDT switch with the DCC power going to the bottom terminals and the DC power going to the top terminals. The center terminals go to the block. Thusly, when I flip the switch up, the block will be on DCC and when I flip the switch down, it will be on DC. The center position will be off. You can tell already that this is going to be great fun, can't you. Well, better get busy. See you lot another time.

Calling All Volunteers ~ October 21st & 22nd, 2006, 9am!
Help preserve the State of Maine's industrial history and unique railroad tradition! The MNGRR will be hosting its first volunteer track weekend.
Our approximately one mile section of track along the waterfront needs maintenance: crossties need to be replaced, bolts tightened and changed, and the tracks need ballast. You may even get a chance to drive spikes!
All work is done by hand, just as it was done when the first 2-foot gauge tracks were laid in Maine in 1879. We'll provide the materials, but we need the support and manpower of volunteers from the Portland community and beyond. No special skills or experience required!
Help with feeding our volunteers would also be greatly appreciated if you are not interested or unable to help with the more physically demanding work.
The work train will be STEAM POWERED all weekend, and we expect to have the Fairmont Track Car working.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided by the museum on both days. Please come join us for an unforgettable railroad experience. For your safety, work gloves, steel-toed boots and long sleeves are strongly encouraged.
Meet in front of the museum at 9am on both days. For more information or if you plan to attend, please contact Mike Moulison.

well Jeff I can tell that you really don't miss the transformer you sent me.. I putting it to good use. Colby, that transformer was one of my SMALL ones. You ought to see the others, most of them can pull 5 Athearn locos at once, and cost well over a hundred dollars new.

Home owners orientation tomorrow! It's looking a lot like a house! Here's a link (so I don't kill the dial-up guys). i83.photobucket.com/albums/j319/pcarrell/House/9-19-06001.jpgBTW, it looks like we may be without intenet service for a couple of days when we move, so I don't know how much I'll be around then. I know, like I'll have time for that anyways!
